TOMPKINSVILLE — Residents can get up to $200 if they turn in any unwanted guns at an event on Saturday.

The NYPD and Staten Island District Attorney Michael McMahon will host a gun buyback event at Mount Sinai United Christian Church, 199 Victory Blvd., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the agency announced.

Anyone who turns in a working handgun or assault rifle will get a $200 prepaid card and people who turn in working rifles, shotguns and airguns will get a $20 prepaid card, the NYPD said.

Residents are asked to bring guns in a plastic bag, paper of box and can surrender as many as they wish, but only get paid for three, police said.

Gun dealers and active or retired law enforcement officials are not eligible for the program, officials said.
