MANHATTAN — A stranger struck a man in the head with a blunt object after swearing at him in Times Square, the NYPD said.

The 43-year-old victim was standing in front of 1568 Broadway, near West 47th Street, around 9:30 p.m. on April 19 when a man he didn’t know approached him and started screaming profanities at him, police said.

The suspect then struck the victim in the head with an unidentified blunt object, leaving him with a cut, the NYPD said.

The attacker fled the scene in an unknown direction, and the victim was treated for his injuries at Bellevue Hospital, police said.

Police are now searching for an approximately 160-pound man standing about 5-foot-6 who was caught on surveillance video running down a sidewalk in a white shirt, a black jacket and black pants.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
