Trump Security for NYC Visit to Cost $300K, NYPD Commissioner Says

NEW YORK CITY — Security for President Donald Trump's Thursday visit to the city will cost about $300,000 per day, the NYPD commissioner said Tuesday.

"Should be a good day. A lot of pieces [have been] put in place," Commissioner James O'Neill said.

Trump, who has not visited the city since he took the presidential oath, is scheduled to meet Australia's prime minister at the Intrepid museum before heading to his golf course in New Jersey, where he'll reportedly stay for the rest of his Tri-State visit.

The president has said he's reluctant to visit his hometown because its so costly and disruptive.

"I hate to see the New Yorkers with streets closed," he told Fox News.

Local politicians have long complained that securing Trump and his family, who still live in his eponymous Fifth Avenue tower, costs taxpayers too much.

Congress Sunday night approved about $61 million to reimburse New York and Florida for security costs.
