MANHATTAN — A man in a BMW became enraged and fired a gun after a driver backed his van into the vehicle, according to police.

The van was parking in front of 164 Pearl St. near Wall Street at about 4:23 p.m. when it hit the BMW, an NYPD spokesman said.

The passenger in the car then fired the weapon, but no one was injured.

The BMW driver then fled the scene and was pulled over on the FDR just north of the 23rd Street exit, the spokesman added.

The shooter was taken into custody and there was no immediate information on charges against him.
