FINANCIAL DISTRICT — An attacker stabbed and slashed a man in the face as he walked from a train station in the Financial District, police said.

The 37-year-old victim, from The Bronx, was walking on the sidewalk near the intersection of Bridge and Whitehall streets around 9:50 p.m. on April 21 when a man he didn’t know approached him from behind with a small blade, the NYPD said.

During the struggle that ensued, the attacker left the victim with slash marks and puncture wounds on his right cheek, forehead, chin, chest and right arm before fleeing the scene, police said.

Police searched the area, but weren’t able to find the suspect, the NYPD said.

The NYPD didn’t provide information about the victim’s condition following the attack.
