THE BRONX — Beer burglars clobbered a rail yard worker in the face with a block of concrete after the victim spooked the suspects during their heist, NYPD officials said.

Three of the burglars, all men, cut a hole in the fence of the CSX train yard across from 523 Bruckner Blvd. and started loading cases of various types of beer into a taxi that another man had driven to the yard at about 12:40 a.m., police said.

That's when the 38-year-old CSX worker came and scared them off, police said.

The employee went inside and started taking inventory of the beer that the suspects hadn't managed to steal when he heard voices behind him and was hit with a block of concrete in the face, police said.

The agent refused medical attention at the scene, but was later treated for a cut to his head at a New Jersey hospital, police said.

The haul of brews totaled about $800, police said.

Investigators released footage of two of the suspects Monday morning.

One sported a beard and was last seen wearing a backwards baseball cap, police said.

The other wore a shirt with a large decal and lettering on the front, police said. He also wore a backward baseball cap, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
