THE BRONX — A burglar in a a shirt emblazoned with the phrase "Not Today" trashed a Melrose laundromat after being unable to open its cash register, NYPD officials said.

The would-be thief, who can be seen in police photos released Wednesday, used the front door to enter the Wonder Wash Laundromat at 675 Morris Ave., near East 153rd Street, and tried to open the register about 1 a.m. on April 14, police said.

When he failed at his mission, he broke the laundromat's security cameras and sprayed a fire extinguisher throughout the place, officials said.

The suspect, who's about 5 feet, 10 inches and 185 pounds, then fled empty-handed, police said.

The man, who's believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, wore black sneakers and gray pants, police said.

He hadn't been arrested as of Thursday morning, police said.

Staff at the laundromat declined to comment.
