Lisa Lisa to Perform Free Concert in The Bronx This Summer

MOTT HAVEN — Lisa Lisa fans, get ready to feel the beat in The Bronx during her summer concert.

The '80s superstar responsible for hits including "Head to Toe," "Lost in Emotion" and "Can You Feel the Beat" will put on a free concert in St. Mary's Park on July 30 with reggae artist Marlon B.

The concert, part of the City Parks Foundation's SummerStage series, will take place from 5 to 7 p.m.

Lisa Lisa, whose real name is Lisa Velez, was born in Hell's Kitchen and released her debut album with her band Cult Jam in 1985 that included the hit single "I Wonder If I Take You Home."

The group had several other hits together before Lisa Lisa went solo, releasing the album "LL 77" in 1994 and "Life 'n Love" in 2009, which saw her collaborate with Pitbull for the song "Can't Wait."

Other SummerStage events in The Bronx this year include a free performance by hip-hop DJ Kid Capri on Aug. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. and a free performance of the musical "A Bronx Tale" on Aug. 3 from 7 to 9 p.m., both taking place in Crotona Park.
