Bronx Man Dies After Being Shot in Buttocks, Police Say

By Trevor Kapp | April 18, 2017 9:42am

THE BRONX — A man who was initially listed in stable condition after being shot in the buttocks on Sunday succumbed to his injuries hours later after the bullet traveled into his abdominal cavity, police sources said.

Quaysean Haywood, 28, was shot once in the right buttock on Hawkstone Street and Walton Avenue in Mount Eden around 9:50 p.m., the NYPD said.

He was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital with what were not thought to be life-threatening injuries, but he started to bleed internally, sources said.

Haywood was then rushed into surgery where he began experiencing heart troubles as a result of blood loss, a law-enforcement source said.

He died around 4:15 a.m. Monday, according to police.

A .38 caliber revolver was recovered in an alleyway near the shooting scene, but no arrests had been made as of Tuesday morning, sources said.
