BROOKLYN — A woman was slashed across the face on an A train by a man who then stole her iPhone and fled Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The 51-year-old victim was aboard the Manhattan-bound train in the Nostrand Avenue station about 5:45 p.m. when the suspect, who can be seen in surveillance photos released Wednesday, attacked her, NYPD officials said.
He repeatedly punched her in the face and then slashed the left side of her face with a sharp object before stealing her iPhone, police said.
The victim was treated at King County Hospital, where she's listed in stable condition, police said.
The suspect fled and hadn't been arrested as of Thursday morning, police said.
He was described as being his late 20s, standing about 6 feet and weighing 275 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing a red-hooded jacket with black jeans, police said.
"That's what we have right now on him. We're still doing our investigation now," said the NYPD's Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce.
