BROOKLYN — An East New York man was convicted Tuesday of strangling his ex-girlfriend following a spat over child support, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.

Tristan Anderson, 30, strangled Shawntell Davis, 25, inside her Bed-Stuy home in the Roosevelt Houses on DeKalb Avenue near Lewis Avenue in July 2014 during an argument over helping to raise their two young kids, prosecutors said.

Anderson later told police that he pushed her to the floor and that she may have banged her head. He said she was gurgling and wheezing when he left the apartment, the DA's Office said.

But the Medical Examiner later determined that she died from strangulation, according to prosecutors.

Anderson was convicted of murder and manslaughter and faces 25 years to life in prison when he’s sentenced May 1.

“Not only did he selfishly and senselessly take the life of a young mother, this defendant left his children essentially without any parents,” Acting Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez said in a statement.
