YORKVILLE — A convicted burglar was arrested this week for committing at least two burglaries of apartments on East 91st Street, stealing jewelry and electronics, the NYPD said.

James Leon, 55, of East Harlem, was arrested and charged with six counts of burglary after being picked up at the corner of Lexington Avenue and 104th Street Thursday at 6 p.m., police said.

Leon was wanted along with another man for two incidents that took place on March 21 between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Police said Leon snatched two Apple laptops, a Louis Vuitton bag, a Baume & Mercier watch, a Fossil wallet, a Swarovski necklace, miscellaneous jewelry, a ruby/diamond piece, Beats headphones and a Chase Bank checkbook from an East 91st Street apartment, police said.

He and the other suspect then went into another apartment in the same building before fleeing empty-handed, according to officials.

Police released the suspects' photos on March 31.

Leon, who has more than a dozen prior arrests, including for burglary, had not been arraigned as of Friday morning, according to police and the Manhattan District Attorney's office.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Anyone with information in regards to these incidents is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
