LOWER EAST SIDE — Police on Wednesday announced they are offering a $2,500 reward in exchange for tips on who may have dropped a Chihuahua into a trash compactor at the Vladeck Houses last week.

The tiny dog was discovered by NYCHA workers in the trash compactor at 45 Jackson St. March 30 at around 8:30 a.m., police said.

The dog seemed to be in good health, police said. It is currently receiving care at an ASPCA animal hospital, the agency said.

Whoever tossed the dog in the garbage is wanted for animal cruelty, police said.

Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
