QUEENS — A 70-year-old woman was hospitalized after she was knocked to the ground and robbed Wednesday evening in Forest Hills, police said.
The suspect approached the victim as she was walking near the intersection of Yellowstone Boulevard and 67th Road around 6:30 p.m., officials said.
The robber grabbed her from behind and knocked her to the ground while snatching her purse, containing an iPhone 6, black dancing shoes, credit cards, keys and ID. The suspect then fled on foot southbound on 67th Road, authorities said.
The victim was taken to Forest Hills Hospital with injuries to her ribs and right arm, police said. She was listed in stable condition.
It was not clear whether the robber was a man or woman, police said. The suspect was described as being approximately 25 years old, 5-foot-5 tall, with a thin build.
The robber was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
It was not immediately clear whether the incident was part of a recent pattern in which a serial robber brutally attacked three woman in Forest Hills and Rego Park since January.
