WOODSIDE — A 1-year-old girl living at a hotel the city is using to house homeless families died this morning, police said.

Police were called to the Quality Inn at 53-05 Queens Blvd. at 11:55 a.m. on Friday, where they found 1-year-old Kimio Williams unconscious and unresponsive inside.

She was brought to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The city's Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, and police are investigating.

The Department of Homeless Services began renting rooms inside the Quality Inn as a shelter last August.

It's not clear how many rooms are currently being rented for homeless families.

A DHS spokesman said they could not provide specific information into an active investigation because of confidentiality rules.

“This is a heartbreaking tragedy," spokesman Isaac McGinn said in a statement. "We offer our condolences to the family and will provide the family with any and all support that we can during this difficult time.”
