Serial Duane Reade Thief Steals Meds from 8 Stores in 2-Month Spree: NYPD

MANHATTAN — Police are looking for a serial shoplifter who stole over-the-counter medication from a string of Duane Reade stores across the city during a spree that strecthed over two months, according to the NYPD.

From Jan. 9 to Feb. 23, a man in his 30s visited eight Duane Reade stores on the Upper East Side, Midtown East, Gramercy and the Upper West Side — each time taking medicine or hygienic items from the store and then fleeing in an unknown direction, police said.

The NYPD described the man as in his 30s and standing 5-foot-10. He was last seen wearing a gray jacket over a gray sweatshirt and a hat. Police released a surveillance photo from the man's third theft at an Upper East Side Duane Reade.

The thief took the following items, according to police:

► Flonase, Rogaine, and Zyrtec from the Duane Reade at 485 Lexington Ave., near East 47th Street, just after midnight on Jan. 9.

► Nicorette packages from the Duane Reade at 1352 First Ave., near East 72nd Street, on Jan. 10 at 9:33 p.m.

► Nexium, Icy Hot and Align Probiotics at the same Upper East Side store on Jan. 13 at 8:32 a.m.

► Align Probiotics, Nexium, Pepcid and Prilosec at the 585 Second Ave. store, near East 32nd Street, on Jan. 17 at 9 p.m.

► Alli and Nicorette from the 609 Columbus Ave. Duane Reade near West 90th Street at 5:45 p.m. on Jan. 18.

► Allegra and Nexium from the store at 775 Columbus Ave., near West 98th Street, at 8:22 p.m. on Feb. 4.

► Align and Crest products from the store at 741 Columbus Ave., near West 97th Street, at 8:18 p.m. on Feb. 20.

► Crest products and Plan B from the store at 125 Third Ave., near East 14th Street, at 10:05 p.m. on Feb. 21.

► Align, Crest products and Nicorette at the store located at 1356 Lexington Ave., near East 90th Street, on Feb. 23rd at 8:12 p.m..

A representative for Duane Reade declined to comment on the thefts Tuesday.
