Man Steals $1,800 From Chase Bank in South Bronx, Police Say

MOTT HAVEN — A man stole $1,800 from a Chase Bank branch in the South Bronx on Tuesday morning, police said.

Albert Lendhardt, 35, went up to a teller inside the bank at 270 E. 137th St. near Third Avenue just minutes after 10 a.m. and passed the teller a note demanding money, police said.

He fled with more than a thousand dollars and headed north on Third Avenue, police said. He was arrested the next day on robbery charges, police said.

No one reported getting injured during the robbery, police said.

The Chase Bank branch declined to comment on the robbery.
