BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A robber beat up a 78-year-old man inside a bodega because he was taking too long to pay at the register, police sources said Monday.

The elderly man was inside Shorty’s Deli on Marcus Garvey Boulevard, near Lexington Avenue, March 22 around noon when one of the attackers grew irate over how long he was taking to pay, sources said.

The suspect then repeatedly punched the victim in the face and body before his accomplice snatched the man's phone and wallet containing $100, police sources said.

The victim suffered cuts and bruises to his face and was taken to Woodhull Hospital.

The first suspect is believed to be about 5-foot-8 with a slim build and a beard. He was last seen wearing a brown jacket, a gray hooded sweater and gray sweatpants.

The second attacker is about 35 to 40 years old, 5-foot-8, 215 pounds with a beard. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweater, a red-and-black plaid sweater, blue jeans and black sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
