LOWER EAST SIDE — A burglar clambered up the fire escape and shimmied through the windows of two apartments in a Clinton Street building Monday — making off with a haul of electronics and designer goods altogether valued at nearly $8,000, police said.

A woman who left her apartment near Rivington Street at 9 a.m. and returned from work around 8:30 p.m. found her window had been left open and her $2,500 MacBook, $900 iPhone, $2,500 Celine bag and $600 Miu Miu shoes had been stolen, according to authorities.

In the same building, another woman left her apartment at 8 a.m. and came home at 9:45 p.m. to find her bedroom window ajar and her $400 iPad and three gold rings valued at $1,000 missing, police said.

The burglar had accessed the unlocked window by climbing up the fire escape in the back of the building, according to a police report.

No arrests had been made as of Friday and the investigation is ongoing.
