Robbers Use Spare Airbnb Key to Steal $3K Gown and Laptop: NYPD

By Aidan Gardiner | March 16, 2017 10:08am

BROOKLYN — Four burglars got ahold of a spare key intended for Airbnb renters in order to break into a woman's Bed-Stuy apartment and steal her MacBook and $2,900 gown, police said.

The thieves obtained the Airbnb key, which was marked with its corresponding address for the home near Howard Avenue and Monroe Street, after cracking the code of a kiosk that was holding the key. They let themselves into the apartment at about 10:45 p.m. on Jan. 28, an NYPD spokesman said.

They then took a $1,600 laptop and a pricey Neiman Marcus Couture gown, police said.

The burglars, described as three men and a woman between 18 and 23, fled the scene and still hadn't been arrested as of Thursday, police said.

It wasn't immediately clear why police took so long to publicize the burglary.
