LOWER EAST SIDE — Police are looking for a man they say violently robbed two women in the Lower East Side and Chinatown Friday morning by throwing them to the ground and snatching their purses.

The suspect, who police say wore a black hooded sweatshirt emblazoned with the "Thrasher" logo in flaming letters, first approached a 67-year-old woman behind 650 Water St. at 7:15 a.m., police said.

The man grabbed the woman's purse containing $20 in cash and a cellphone and threw her to the ground before fleeing, according to authorities.

The suspect then approached a 34-year-old woman at 8:30 a.m. in the stairwell of an apartment building near East Broadway and Catherine Street, police said. He grabbed the woman's purse, which contained credit cards, $400 and a cellphone, and threw her to the ground, then fled on foot, police said.

Police have released surveillance footage of the suspect, described as between 20 and 25-years-old and standing at 5-foot-5.

Anyone with information in regards to these incidents is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
