LONG ISLAND CITY — Service on the 7 train has resumed with massive delays in Manhattan and parts of Queens after a loose pipe hit the top of a train car, leading to passengers being evacuated at the Hunters Point Avenue station, according to the MTA.
Service went down in both directions between Queensboro Plaza and 34th Street-Hudson Yards around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday morning after a loose pipe made contact with the top of a southbound train as it was pulling out of the Hunters Point Avenue station, causing a loud noise, according to MTA Spokesman Kevin Ortiz.
The train was stopped, and customers were evacuated and returned to the station platform as crews investigated, Ortiz said. No one was injured in the incident.
Service partially resumed — on a single track — at approximately 1 p.m., according to the MTA's website.
City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer tweeted that he was aboard the train that was evacuated in Hunters Point.

Riders in Queens were advised to take the N or W trains from Queensboro Plaza for service into Manhattan.
The LIRR was also cross honoring tickets at 34th St-Penn Station, Hunters Point Avenue, 61 Street-Woodside and Flushing-Main Street stations, according to the MTA's website.
