Queens DA Staffer Slashed Outside Brooklyn Bar, Sources Say

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A staffer for the Queens District Attorney’s Office was slashed in the face early Friday outside a Brooklyn bar, sources said Monday.

Marlon Palacios, 23, was leaving the Brooklyn Nights bar at 497 DeKalb Ave. near Franklin Avenue around 2:15 a.m. when he got into a verbal dispute with another man outside, sources said.

Following the argument, an unknown individual knocked him to the ground, and he realized he had been slashed, sources said.

Palacios did not see the suspect and had a laceration from his jawline to his ear, according to sources. He was taken to Brooklyn Hospital where he received about 50 stitches.

The incident was first reported by the New York Post.

Palacios is a community associate with the Queens District Attorney’s Special Prosecutions Division, a spokeswoman said.

“Queens DA Brown and the entire staff are keeping Marlon in our thoughts and prayers and wish him the very best for a speedy recovery,” the spokeswoman said in a statement.

Prior to the slashing outside Brooklyn Nights, a 28-year-old man was also cut on the face on the corner of DeKalb and Franklin avenues between 2 and 2:15 a.m., an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The other victim was slashed on the right side of the face and taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, police said.

It is unclear if the incidents were related, an NYPD spokeswoman said. No arrests had been made as of Monday morning.
