TIMES SQUARE — A thief stole wallets from elderly men at two different subway stations — then tried unsuccessfully to use their bank cards at an ATM machine and a casino, the NYPD said.

The first victim, a 93-year-old man, was walking up the stairs inside the 1/2/3 subway station at West 72nd Street and Broadway around 6:50 p.m. on Feb. 27 when the suspect bumped into him and took his wallet, police said.

The thief tried to use the victim's debit card at an ATM inside a Duane Reade at West 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue, but wasn’t able to withdraw cash, the NYPD said.

Four days later, on March 3 around 11 a.m., an 83-year-old man was riding an escalator to the 7-train platform inside the Times Square subway station when the same thief bumped into him and stole his wallet, police said.

The suspect made another unsuccessful attempt at using the victim's credit card at Resorts World Casino, the NYPD said.

Duane Reade did not immediately respond to requests for comment Friday.

A Resorts World Casino spokesman said security at the venue "was able to provide high-quality images of the suspect to the NYPD, which we hope will lead to the individual’s swift arrest.”

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
