QUEENS — Gourmet coffee lovers can now enjoy their daily cup of java at a new coffee shop in Forest Hills.

Poesie Cafe, which recently opened at 102-10 Metropolitan Ave., serves a variety of coffees, from cappuccinos to lattes to mochas, brewed with beans from Vienna-based roaster Julius Meinl.

The menu includes both breakfast and lunch items, as well as smoothies, protein shakes and fresh juices along with French macarons and cakes from the popular Omonia Café in Astoria.

For those who enjoy savory foods, the menu also includes bagels, soups and handmade pies from Stolle Bakery, which come in several flavors including spinach, mushroom and chicken.

The owner, Alexandra Rodionova, said she's wanted to open her own business ever since working as a coffee shop manager in her native Russia.

"It's a nice area and really nice people live here,” she Rodionova, a Kew Gardens resident. "I'm trying to give them something they will like and my goal is to serve only the finest quality products,” she added.

Rodionova also said she wanted the place to have a European feel to it.

“That’s why we serve Austrian coffee, which is very popular in Europe,” she said.

She said she named the coffee shop “Poesie” (the French word for poetry), because she wanted to create a spot where locals could relax while sitting at a table or on a couch and sipping a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.

“We have a very romantic classic interior,” she noted.
