THE BRONX — A man feigning to help an elderly woman with a cane off the elevator in her building instead threatened to kill her and stole $200 Friday, NYPD officials said.

The 81-year-old woman was followed by a man onto the elevator of the building near Grand Concourse and Marcy Place about 2:20 p.m., police said.

The man then pretended to help the woman off the elevator and opened the door, but then returned inside and put a finger to his lips and threatened to kill her, video shows.

He then pulled out her wallet and stole $200 before fleeing the scene, police said.

He's about 5-feet-10-inches tall with a salt-and-pepper goatee and was last seen in black jeans, white sneakers, a green jacket, blue hoodie, black cap and a black backpack, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
