HARLEM — A man stabbed a straphanger multiple times after an argument at the 145th Street 1 train station, police said.

The 31-year-old victim was boarding the uptown train on Feb. 24 around 4:20 p.m. when he got into a dispute with the suspect, police said.

The argument escalated and the suspect punched the victim in the face and then stabbed him three times in the back with a sharp object, police said.

The suspect fled the station and the victim was taken to Harlem Hospital for treatment.

Police did not say what prompted the argument or what object the attacker used to stab the victim.

Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect, who was described as a roughly 30-year-old man, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing about 180 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a blue jacket, blue shoes and carrying a green backpack, police said.
