By Nicholas Rizzi | March 1, 2017 9:27am

WEST BRIGHTON — A homeless man was arrested after swiping more than $2,000 worth of power tools from the office of a NYCHA building, prosecutors said.

Brian Velasquez, 38, broke into the office of the West Brighton Houses at 240 Broadway on Feb. 15 at about 10:29 a.m. and stole tools inside, according to his criminal complaint.

"I can recall taking about 20 to 30 pounds of power tools," Velasquez later told police, according to the complaint.

Velasquez was arrested on Thursday and charged with burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, grand larceny, petit larceny and criminal trespassing at his arraignment, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

His bail was set at $10,000 and he's due back in court on Wednesday, according to online court records.

Velasquez was previously arrested once each in 2016 and 2015 and charged with drug possession, court records show.

His lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
