MANHATTAN — Police busted a man for smoking pot near the Port Authority Bus Terminal Monday and found he was also carrying two knives, a loaded pistol and 106 rounds of ammunition that were hidden in toothpaste tubes and a lotion bottle, officials said.
Amos Stowers, 30, was toking up at the corner of Dyer Avenue and West 41st Street about 4:30 p.m. when Port Authority Police officers caught and questioned him, according to PAPD spokesman Joseph Pentangelo.
They searched him and found the knives, a Kel Tec 9mm pistol and the ammo in his backpack, Pentangelo said.
Stowers's cache included 17 hollow-point bullets, the spokesman added.
He was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon, officials said.
He hadn't been arraigned as of Tuesday morning, officials added.
