MANHATTAN — An 83-year-old man was fatally struck by a postal truck as he crossed an Upper West Side street Friday morning, police said.

The victim, whose name wasn't immediately released, was crossing West 95th Street from west to east when a United States Postal Service truck driven by a 56-year-old man northbound in the right lane of Amsterdam Avenue hit him about 6 a.m., NYPD officials said.

The victim was unconscious when emergency responders arrived, and he was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai St. Luke's, police said.

The postal worker remained on the scene and wasn't immediately arrested, police said.
