DONGAN HILLS — A man waiting in line for the bathroom of a Staten Island restaurant was beaten by a customer who had been inside, police said.

The 60-year-old victim was waiting to use the restroom of Max's Es-Ca restaurant, at 1559 Richmond Rd., at 11 p.m. on Feb. 11, according to the NYPD.

A man who emerged from the facility started to pummel the victim, and was joined by a second man who had been inside the restaurant.

The victim was punched in the body and face, police said.

He was taken to an area hospital to be treated for cuts and bruises, according to police.

Both suspects are described as between 30 and 40 years old. It was not clear if they knew each other or what sparked the attack, police said.

A worker at the restaurant declined to comment.

It's unclear why police waited waited a week to release information about the assault.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
