GREENWICH VILLAGE — Two Australians opened a new cafe in Greenwich Village earlier this month featuring coffee and food from their home country.

Banter, at 169 Sullivan St. just north of West Houston Street, is owned by Sydney native Nick Duckworth and Melbourne native Josh Evans, who moved to New York 18 months ago and met working at the Australian cafe Two Hands in Nolita.

Both Duckworth and Evans moved to the city with hopes of one day bringing Australian cafe culture to life here with their own eatery.

The health-conscious menu features items that are popular in cafes both here and in Australia, including avocado toast, chia fruit bowls and a soba noodle salad.

Beverages include Australian specialties like Flat Whites, as well as Matcha lattes and an array of teas, plus wine, beer and cocktails.
