Suspect Arrested in Fatal Bed-Stuy Bodega Shooting, Police Say

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Police have arrested the suspected gunman in a September deli shooting that killed one man and injured another.

Maurice Hennegan, 23, was arrested Friday in connection with the Sept. 28 shooting inside Three Stars Deli & Grocery on Tompkins Avenue and Hart Street, police said.

Neil Thompson, 38, was fatally shot at the bodega, and a 64-year-old bystander was hit in the torso, police said.

Hennegan and Thompson had been arguing over a woman prior to the shooting, police said.

Hennegan was charged with second-degree murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, police said. 

Attorney information for Hennegan was not immediately available.
