MIDTOWN — Metro-North Harlem line customers were told to prepare for service disruptions during the evening commute Monday after a train struck a tree felled by high winds north of Hawthorne.
Train delays and cancelations were expected north of North White Plains while crews worked to re-rail the first car of the train and repair about 100 feet of damaged track, according to the MTA.
The following service was canceled:
► The 4:18 p.m. train to Southeast was combined with the 4:21 p.m., making all stops to Southeast.
► The 4:35 p.m. to Wassaic was combined with the 4:41 p.m. to Southeast, making all stops from Valhalla to Wassaic. Riders going to White Plains or North White Plains were asked to take the 4:44 p.m. train to North White Plains to avoid overcrowding.
► The 6:13 p.m. to Mount Kisco was combined with the 6:29 p.m. to Southeast. Riders going to White Plains and North White Plains were asked to take the 6:16 p.m. to North White Plains to avoid overcrowding.
There was no southbound service at Hawthorne and Valhalla.
Harlem Line tickets were also being cross-honored on the Hudson and New Haven lines.
Metro-North was expecting normal service for Tuesday morning.
There were also disruptions on the LIRR Monday evening. The Babylon Branch was "temporarily suspended" after a utility pole fell at the Massapequa Park Station.
Anticipate delays and cancellations during the PM Peak due to wind-related power outages, fallen utility poles and broken crossing gates.
