NYPD Civilian Employee Shot Dead in Brooklyn Home, Sources Say

BROOKLYN — A civilian employee for the NYPD was shot dead in his Bath Beach home Wednesday night, police said.

Robert D’Onofrio, 66, who worked in the department's Facilities Management Division, was gunned down inside his home on Bay Eighth Street near Benson Avenue about 6:40 p.m., police sources said.

He was taken to Maimonides Hospital but couldn’t be saved.

The gunman fled in D’Onofrio’s blue Ford Mustang, which was later found in Brownsville, sources said.

No arrests had been made as of Thursday morning. The circumstances surrounding the shooting weren't immediately known.
