BROOKLYN — A popular home-style Korean spot is expanding from Chelsea to Flatbush Avenue this week, its owner announced.

The first stand-alone mŏkbar from chef Esther Choi is set to open Wednesday at 212 Flatbush Ave., just down the street from the Barclays Center.

The 60-seat restaurant is the second location for Choi, who opened her first restaurant in Chelsea Market in 2014 and became known for creative ramen dishes. Mŏkbar Brooklyn, however, will focus on “everyday Korean home-style food,” Choi said in a news release announcing the opening. Offerings include jip bap, or Korean soul food, typically served with several vegetables, kimchi, market greens, sauce and rice and priced between $22 and $24.

Small plates known as anju are also on the menu, including dumplings, ho cakes, braised short rib and tteokboki, chewy rice cakes sold in Korea as street food.

The Korean eatery is one of several new restaurants opening on the block recently. Snowdays, a shaved ice dessert shop, opened last week at 214 Flatbush Ave., next door to mŏkbar. And on the other side of the new restaurant, the Williamsburg-based baked goods shop Ovenly is set to open soon at 210 Flatbush Ave.

The new restaurant will have 60 seats and a full bar, pending a liquor license to be approved by the State Liquor Authority. (Photo credit: Courtesy of mŏkbar Brooklyn)
