Woman's $5K Cartier Watch Stolen as She Gets Nails Done at UES Salon: NYPD

UPPER EAST SIDE — A woman's $5,000 Cartier watch was snatched from her bag while she was getting her nails done at Olivier Nail Salon, according to the NYPD.

The Upper East Side resident, 60, put her 18-karat gold Cartier watch into her open bag while getting her nails done on Jan. 2 at the 1324 Lexington Ave. salon, police said.

When she returned to her bag at about 3 p.m., her watch was missing, according to authorities.

Police have not made any arrests but are investigating the theft.

Pickpocket at Patsy's

A woman's wallet was stolen out of her purse as she was eating at Patsy's Pizzeria, 206 E. 60th St., on Feb. 1, police said. She hung her purse over the back of her chair around 7:30 p.m. and a man sitting at a table behind her took the wallet out and handed it to a woman he was with. The Furla wallet was worth $300 with $300 in cash inside, police said.

IRS phone scammer

A 25-year-old man was scammed out of $1,500 when someone called his phone claiming to be the IRS on Feb. 2. The victim received the call at about 10 a.m. from someone claiming to be an IRS representative who told him he owed the agency $2,496. When the man said he didn't have that much money, the scammer told him to hand over $1,500 worth of iTunes gift cards to settle the debt. The victim took pictures of the serial numbers on the gift cards and sent them to the scammer by 2 p.m., police said.

Burglary on 81st Street

A burglar tried to break into an East 81st Street apartment by breaking a window on Jan. 29, just before 2 a.m., but ended off running away empty-handed, police said. The window was located next to a fire escape, and witnesses told police they saw the suspect enter the front door of the building to get to the roof, which has access to the fire escape, according to authorities.

On Jan. 31, an unknown man in his 30s went into the 1146 Madison Ave. shop, at 85th Street, picked out three coats, and ran out with them in less than a minute, between 6:30 and 6:31 p.m., police said. The coats were worth a total of $900.

DWI

A 21-year-old man from the Bronx was arrested for driving his 2017 Toyota RAV-4 the wrong way at 62nd Street and First Avenue while intoxicated, police said.
