EAST HARLEM — A thief stole more than 100 packs of cigarettes from a 7-Eleven while the only worker in the store was distracted, police said.

The man walked into the store, at 2256 Second Ave., on Jan. 30 around 7:20 p.m. wearing a black hooded jacket and a skull cap while the worker was cleaning another part of the store, police said.

He managed to swipe 111 packs of cigarettes, totaling more than $1,300, from behind the counter and flee the store, police said.

Two hours later the worker reported the crime, according to the police report.

The suspect was described as about 5-foot-11 and weighing roughly 125 pounds.

A representative for 7-Eleven did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
