WEST VILLAGE — A police officer was punched in the face outside the Up & Down Club, according to the NYPD.

The officer was punched in the nose and mouth by a 23-year-old man wearing brown dress shoes, blue jeans and a blue shirt outside the celebrity-favorite nightlife spot at 240 W. 14th St. about 1:40 a.m. on Jan. 29, police said.

The officer was left with pain and a small cut, police said.

The 23-year-old was charged with assault with intent to cause physical injury, assault recklessly causing physical injury and attempted assault with intent to cause physical injury — all misdemeanors — plus a violation for harassment in the second degree, court records show.

The man was released without bail after his arraignment and is due back in court Feb. 28. His attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The 6th Precinct proudly tweeted a photo of an officer escorting Rihanna to the club in August of last year, and rapper Azealia Banks is still awaiting trial for an arrest at the club in December 2015, when she allegedly bit a bouncer's breast
