TIMES SQUARE — A thief posing as an event staffer stole photography equipment from two Midtown hotels, the NYPD said.

The suit-wearing suspect went into the Time New York Hotel at 224 W. 49th St., between Broadway and Eighth Avenue, around 8:10 p.m. on Nov. 26, and pretended to be an event staffer before stealing photography equipment fleeing the location, police said.

Less than two months later, around 5 p.m. on Jan. 19, the suspect went into the Mandarin Oriental Hotel at 80 Columbus Circle and stole more photography equipment while posing as a staff member, the NYPD said.

Police didn’t say what kind of equipment he stole or how much it was worth.

The suspect was described as bald, weighing about 170 pounds and standing 6 feet. He was caught on surveillance footage at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel wearing glasses and a suit.

A spokeswoman for the Time New York Hotel declined to comment on the theft Tuesday, and a spokeswoman for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
