MIDTOWN — The city could see an inch of snow fall on Tuesday as a low-pressure system moves into the area from the west, forecasters said.

The snow is expected to begin falling after 8 a.m. and could last into the afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

The Sanitation Department issued a snow alert for Tuesday and will prepare salt spreaders, plows and tire chains.

Temperatures are expected to reach just 35 degrees during the day with the wind chill making it feel more like 15 degrees, forecasters said.

The system should move out of the area later in the day, and Wednesday is expected to be sunny with a high of 45 degrees.
