CHELSEA — A pair of robbers threatened a parking garage employee with a gun before stealing the keys to a lock box, the NYPD said.

The 57-year-old employee was at the Madison Square Parking Corp. lot at 359 Ninth Ave., between West 30th and West 31st streets, around 5:15 p.m. on Jan. 18 when the two men approached him, police said.

One of the suspects flashed a firearm and told the worker to get inside of a ticket booth at the lot, while the second pushed him into the booth, police said.

The pair then stole a set of keys to a lock box before fleeing the lot on foot, the NYPD said. Police could not say whether they took anything else from the garage.

The employee wasn’t injured, police noted.

Police are now searching for the two men, one of whom was described as between 35 and 45 years old, standing between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-8, weighing between 170 and 200 pounds, and last seen wearing a red windbreaker, a black hat and glasses.

The second thief, who was carrying the gun, was described as between 30 and 40 years old, standing between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-8, weighing between 150 to 180 pounds, and last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, a black hat and white sneakers, according to police.

Madison Square Parking Corp. couldn’t immediately be reached for comment on Monday.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
