UPPER WEST SIDE — A robber beat a 72-year-old woman on Broadway early Thursday after she refused to hand over her purse, police said.

The 5-foot-3 attacker tried to grab the woman’s bag as she walked near 108th Street about 3:10 a.m. Thursday, the NYPD said.

When she resisted, he punched her in the face repeatedly and grabbed the purse containing $250, an iPhone and credit cards, according to police.

The victim was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital with cuts to her mouth and lip and bruising to her face.

The attacker is believed to be in his 20s and 140 pounds. He was wearing a black bubble jacket, a gray hoodie, dark pants and sneakers, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
