Subway Thief Swipes Cellphone and Wallet at Canal Street Turnstile: NYPD

SOHO — Police are looking for a man they say swiped a commuter's cellphone and wallet from his coat pocket before dashing through the subway turnstile at Canal Street.

The suspect snatched the 59-year-old man's belongings on Jan. 19 at around 1:50 p.m. while approaching the turnstiles at Canal Street and Broadway, then dashed through and fled in an unknown direction, police said.

Police released footage of the suspect fleeing through the turnstile. He is described as a man between 20 and 30 years old with a beard and glasses, and was last seen wearing a black coat, red sweatshirt, dark pants and dark shoes.
