GREENPOINT — All the money you don't spend on rent can now go towards your ice cream habit.

Artisanal creamery Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, which sells single scoops for $5.50, doubles for $7.50 and triple scoops that will set you back $9.50, is the first confirmed retail tenant at 7 Bell Slip in Greenpoint Landing, a massive apartment complex that will feature 5,500 apartments — about 1,400 of which will be affordable.

The ice cream shop is slated to open in April, officials said.

“Van Leeuwen has been a distinct and well-established Greenpoint-based retailer for almost 10 years,"  said Jaime Schultz, Director of Lee & Associates, who brokered deal between the developers and Van Leeuwen. "The fact that they are to be part of this exciting new project further reinforces its emergence as a destination location."

Van Leeuwen features small batch ice cream made from scratch on site, with flavors like honeycomb, salted caramel, candied ginger and chocolate banana cream pie. They also have an array of vegan flavors.

Ice cream purveyors, which started as a roving ice cream truck in 2008, now has five brick-and-mortar locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan, including two nearby locations in Greenpoint and Williamsburg.

The developers Greenpoint Landing Associates and L+M Development are still looking for tenants to fill four other available retail spaces.
