TRIBECA — This TriBeCa salon is looking to add a bit more shine to its blowouts — with nail polish.
The new MB45 offers customers a 45-minute blowout with a simultaneous manicure for $65.
The 10-seat salon at 93 Worth St., combines something akin to salon chain Drybar's approach to hair — no cuts, no color, just wash and blow-dry styling — with a menu of options for a manicure look.
The salon's co-founder, Fernanda Lacerda, owner of longtime Nolita salon Maria Bonita, told fashion-industry magazine Women's Wear Daily that the blowout-manicure was a combo she offered at her previous salon, but seemed like a beauty concept that could be a success on its own.
“You go to a place and you want a specific service — and you want people to master that," Lacerda told WWD, adding the beauty industry seems to be moving in the direction of the specialized speed service.
Several new specialized beauty bars have popped up in the city recently, including facials-in-a-hurry spots Heydey and Skin Laundry.
At MB45, which soft-opened last week, customer can book the signature 45-minute combo service online, with a choice of blowout style.
They also offer a selection of other beauty combos, including blowout, braid or up-do, and makeup packages that take an hour and cost $100. For an additional $10, customers can get the longer-lasting gel manicure.
