CHINATOWN — Police are looking for a man they believe stole $1,000 in cash from a bank on Thursday — the second time the suspect has struck a Chinatown bank since the end of December.

The suspect first struck a Chase Bank at 180 Canal St. on Dec. 28 at around 12:46 p.m., slipping a note to the teller demanding cash, police said.

The suspect snatched $3,000 from the teller before fleeing the location, according to authorities.

The thief then hit a Chase Bank at 2 Bowery on Thursday at around 1:51 p.m., once again passing a note to the teller demanding cash. The suspect took $1,000 and fled, officials said.

Police have released a surveillance photo of the suspect, described as a thin man with a goatee, between 25 and 30 years old, standing between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11. He was last seen wearing a brown jacket, black Klondike hat, a dark jacket, black Adidas pants and tan boots, according to authorities.

Anyone with information in regards to these incidents is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit tips on the website.
