FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A man pulled a knife on a Duane Reade employee after the shoplifter was spotted stealing boxes of antacids and allergy medications, police said.
A store worker told police he caught a man stuffing 16 boxes of medicine, including Prevacid and Claritin, into his pockets on Jan. 1 at about 11:45 p.m. at the 250 Broadway store.
When the 34-year-old employee confronted the man, the shoplifter thrust a knife toward the worker, without hurting him. The thief then ran out of the store with the medications.
The 250 Broadway Duane Reade has become a regular target for thieves. In December, in two separate incidents, thieves stole thousands of dollars in razors from the location, police said.
