LOWER EAST SIDE — A woman was robbed and punched in the face while walking near the corner of Norfolk and Stanton streets in the early morning hours of New Year's Day.
The 26-year-old woman was walking down the street at around 12:30 a.m. when another woman approached her and asked her for change, then grabbed her phone and money and punched her in the face, police said.
The victim managed to snatch her phone back, but the thief fled with $200 in cash, according to a police report.
The victim was unable to provide a description of the suspect, according to a police report.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
