Mom Killed by Stray Bullet While Bringing Food Home to Her Kids, Police Say

WEST FARMS — A Bronx mother was killed by a stray bullet while bringing food home to her children, police said.

Innocent bystander Cindy Diaz, 48, was shot in the torso and arm on Jan. 6 around 5:37 p.m. near 2012 Boston Rd., just a few blocks from her home, according to the NYPD.

She was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Another man was hit in the arm during the same shooting and went to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition, but officials are unsure if he was the shooter's intended target, police said.

Police released video of a person wanted for questioning in the homicide.
